Non Verbal Analogy: The word analogy means corresponding. In the problems based on analogy, a pair of related figures is provided and a similar relationship is to be established between two other figures, by selecting one or both of them from a set of alternatives.
The various types of problems upon Analogy will be discussed one by one.
Choosing one Element of a Similarly Related Pair: This type of Analogy involves problems consisting of four figures forming the Problem Set and four or five other figures forming the options. The first two figures of the Problem set are related in a particular manner and a similar relationship is to be established between the third and fourth figure by choosing a figure from the options which would replace the question mark in the third or the fourth figure.
Illustration: The following question consists of four figures forming the Problem Set and four or five other figures forming the options. The first two figures of the Problem set are related in a particular manner and a similar relationship is to be established between the third and fourth figure by choosing a figure from the options which would replace the question mark in the third or the fourth figure.

B |
C |
D |
Answer : D
Solution : On analysing the figure I and II we see that all the arrows have reversed their directions. The same relationship can be established by replacing the question mark figure with figure D. Hence D is the correct answer.

Answer : D.
Solution: On analysing the figure I and II we see that the number of arcs in the central element has increased by one, the number of small ellipses has also increased by one and these ellipses have shifted to the inner side of the central element..
The same relationship can be established by replacing the question mark figure with figure D because in figure III we have four arcs, four ellipses and the ellipses are outside the central element, so the answer figure should have five arcs, five ellipses and the ellipses should be inside the central element. All these conditions are satisfied by the figure in option D. Hence D is the correct answer.
Directions : In the following questions, there are two sets of figures - the problem figures . The problem figures are presented in two units. The first unit contains two figures, and the second unit contains one figure and a question mark. You have to find out which one of the answer figures marked (1) to (4) should come in place of the question mark (?).

Directions: The following question consists of two sets of figures. Figures A, B, C and D constitute the Problem Set while figure 1, 2, 3, 4 constitute the Answer Set. There is a definite relationship between figures A and B. Establish a similar relationship between figure C and D by selecting a suitable figure from the Answer Set that would replace the question mark (?) in fig. | |||
